Burton Bradstock is a wonderful base to explore Dorset’s countryside and many attractions. Almost all of West Dorset is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Idyllic streams like the Asker, Brit and Bride meander through rolling farmland and traditional villages. On the high ground, ancient footpaths link Iron Age hill-forts such as Eggardon Hill Fort and Powerstock.

Abbotsbury, with its world famous Swannery and Sub-tropical gardens, is just a seven-mile scenic drive away along the coast road.

Only a few miles in the other direction is the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis made famous by John Fowles and Jane Austen. Before that is Charmouth, popular for fossil hunting and finding sealife in rock pools.

Weymouth, only 17 miles away, is famous as a typical English seaside resort with its sandy beaches, whilst nearby Portland offers watersports, sailing and an open air sculpture park in Tout quarry (which supplied much of the stone used in the rebuilding of London by Sir Christopher Wren).

Lulworth Cove, with its beach and thatched cottages and the massive rock archway at Durdle Door, are 28 miles away between Weymouth and Swanage.

Corfe Castle, the 11th century castellated ruin guarding the village of Corfe, is 6 miles south-east of Wareham.

For families, there are numerous attractions within a short drive, including Monkey World and The Tank Museum.gorilla
