Burton Bradstock is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast - England’s first natural World Heritage site. This coastline stretches for 95 miles, covers 185 million years of the earth’s history with its rich Geology - not only Jurassic but also older Triassic and younger Cretaceous rocks.

The beach at Burton Bradstock offers wonderful fossil hunting and invigorating cliff walks. The beautiful Hive Beach (National Trust) is within ten minutes walk, accessing the South West Coast Path where it drops to the beach. Away from the coastline, many public footpaths and bridleways crisscross the countryside that surrounds the village.

The nearby fishing port of West Bay, made famous by the TV series Harbour Lights, has a quaint little harbour and a beach with a shingle and a sandy area. The centuries-old market town of Bridport is 2.5 miles with a regular bus service. Bridport has an excellent reputation for the local food sold at the monthly farmers’ markets and in local shops in the town and at farms.

Bridport also has a thriving Arts Centre with many exhibitions and a lovely café with secluded courtyard.
It is also home to Palmer’s Brewery which has been brewing beer since 1794 and is one of the few thatched breweries in England. It has a gift shop, offers tours covering all aspects of the brewing process and beer sampling most days throughout the summer. Market day, made famous by TV’s River Cottage, is every Wednesday and Saturday.an ammonite
